In Our Own Words

8/29/07- Sonoma, Yosemite N.P., Sequoia N.P., California: First let me send a sincere thank you to all of you who have expressed an interest and an enjoyment of my writing! You get to witness some of the stuff that goes on in my head even though sometimes I suppress it and may seem a little to quiet. I'm sorry that it has been so long between humorous stories but quite frankly there hasn't been anything that has tickled the funny bone in a little while. I will do my best to weave a little magic into the story before you.    The last week and a half has been very sobering and also pleasant. After we left my cousin Scott and Mia's house in Seattle we had a very lovely drive down the coast of Washington, Oregon, and California. It is mostly windy roads and beautiful cliffs with views of the Pacific Ocean. It is all you may think it would be and more! We stopped at one point to take a walk on the beach and get our feet wet in the very cold waters of the west coast. Yes folks we made it coast to coast, in a round about sort of way! See not much funny about that except watching Steph white knuckle it on the coastal roads. God love her though she does it to prove that she can, a bit of the Trukenbrod stubbornness I suppose. She has gotten better at knowing that she doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. You all know what I mean right. So back to the story. We turned inland north of San Francisco and made our way to Sonoma valley. One place you have to visit if you like wine and are in the area. Sonoma is the sister valley of Napa, another fertile wine region in CA. I am sure most of you know this. Once at the campground our first order of business was to make some sort of plan as to what we were going to do with our one day in the valley. We fired up the computer and pulled up a couple of web sites (this campground had web access). It wasn't long until a couple of golf carts zoomed up and screeched to a halt. Before we knew it there were three people standing next to us in our campsite. " HI, this is so and so from channel 5, we are doing a story about camping and would love to get some shots of you working on the computer!" Well we were happy to oblige because we were going to be famous you know, TV stars! "Just carry on as if we weren't here" so and so told us. So we did although it was a little hard with a camera twelve inches from our face. Remember those acting lessons I thought. Wait I never had acting lessons!   (continued on next page)
